David Stern lit up a fatty when Boston came out of the Eastern Conference. There are matchups…& then there are MATCHUPS: Red Sox vs. Yanks, Ali vs. Frazier, Borg vs. McEnroe (tennis you….) that transcend sports (OK a little dramatic but you get the point) & Lakers vs. Celtics is one of those marquee matchups. You wonder why Ron Attest took less money? You wonder why Boston picked up Rasheed Wallace & Marquis Daniels? It is because on this moment. It’s the RING.
The biggest story of the NBA playoffs has to be the play of the Los Suns of Phoenix. With all the B.S. going on with the state government, the NBA pulled a coup when they embraced diversity instead of running from it. Look for civil/social/political types to get on the Suns bandwagon to champion their cause.
Game 3 was magical for back-up guard Goran Drajic (if he signs w/ Orlando, it would be Drajic for the Magic, This guy was in the zone with 26 pts in the second half. He goes into give Nash a blow (no homo), when he catches fire. Phoenix was just trying to milk the clock, w/ both Stoudemire & Nash on the bench. Coach Gentry was smart enough to keep him in until the wheels fell off (unlike Jerry Sloan of Jazz Game One. His backup guard was killing the Lakers & what does Sloan do? Puts back the starters & LA never looked better. What’s the moral of the story? Leave the HOT player in). Guess what? The wheels never came off. A NBA playoff legend was born. Dude got a contract off that one performance.
It’s that time of year again when Football takes center stage. The Super Bowl will get the Grandpa’s, wannabe’s and never was’ to watch the New Orleans Saints vs. the Baltimore (opps) the Indianapolis Colts in a match up of the two top Conference teams (what’s a conference Mary Sue?).
N.O. will be “Who Dat” ing until kickoff. Where’s Lil Wayne when you need him? I saw him at the Grammy’s. I thought he was locked up. Home team in the Super Bowl; I’m rich; I’m in jail. Seriously, he must be pissed.
Back to the game….
Jared, a senior forward at Northland High, scored 32pts, including two free throws w/ :04 left, to lead the Vikings to a 53-52 win that ended then national No. 1 Findlay Prep’s 45 game winning streak. He also had 17 rebounds and two blocks.
At week’s end Jared was averaging 21.6 & 14 rebounds.
As a junior, he was Ohio’s Mr. Basketball
Seeded teams in the NFL use to mean something. Back in the day (the 90’s) there was Gwen Stefani (No Doubt) or at least J-Z (Reasonable Doubt) that your seeded team would advance to the Super Bowl. The dynasty teams of the 90’s, the Cowboys, Green Bay, Giants & 49ers would never lose opening round match ups. Now anybody’s got a chance.
Let’s get the season popping with a listing of the National Pastime greatest players. Teams & who will win are a long way off so let’s start with the easy task of ranking the Cream of the Crop.
I’m gonna assume you know the teams… maybe I shouldn’t.
20. Derek Rose
19. Al Jefferson (Minnesota)
18. Joe Jackson
17. Pao Gasol
16. Kevin Durant
15. Deron Williams

Haven’t seen one of these in a while.
With the Lakers winning the Championship the “Hate Mail” pretty much stopped all together.
Our guy is back at it again…
Upset about the Ariza trade, requesting another SG and another 7 footer then, demanding an undefeated season. This guy is seeming more delusional than ever.
Still no luck hearing back for him to write for the PisforPROPS
The NFL is cool, but this is a sign that my beloved NBA season is right around the corner
Peyton Manning is handling his business. You would think missing future Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison would slow down the Colts offensively …NOT. The Bengals would be 3-0 if not for a fluke/miracle by Denver in Week One. Led by CP3, Carson Palmer (USC stand up) the 3rd best QB in the league behind Peyton& Brady. You can make a case for Drew Brees. (I like Palmer’s 6-5 over Brees’ 6-0) Big Ben is a product of the Steelers. Put him in the Hall w/ his 2 rings & all but he is not that good. Put him on other team & see what he would do. Oh by the way, what about that rape charge?
Hater proof performance by the Lakers down the stretch
This years’ NBA playoffs have been off the chain
LA Lakers are OK w/ the home court advantage
Cleveland can still come back even after OT loss
Andrew Bynum thinks it’s still the regular season (watch him walk off the court)
N-I-G is lazy or stupid or both.
I skipped my annual NBA All-Star Weekend column because I was frantically trying to finish my book. At least that’s how I rationalized it. I need to finish this book. I have a deadline. I can’t afford to spend that writing time on anything else. But after reflecting for a few days, I came to a sobering conclusion: The book was a convenient excuse. I could have found time to pump out that column. I just didn’t want to hand it in.

Who is going to step up for the Lakers Besides Kobe?? Yea he had a Phenomenal game Yesterday At the Greatest Arena on the Planet (61 points I swear i didn’t think he was trying). But can he do it by himself?
What an amazing game…. 2 straight years of great Superbowl the NFL is rolling. I was cheering for the Cardinals like they were the GIANTS. Is Ben Brotherlinessburger an Elite QB? Where do u rank this Superbowl among the all time greats?
They where flat like Kelis’ ass (see KING cover). Maybe J-Z did win that battle, Beyonce or Kelis u decided?
Big up to the Columbus Crew for winning the MLS (Major League Soccer) title game.
The Crew defeated the NY Red Bull 3-1 to win the North American championship.
Soccer in the USA is no way the fanatical, iconic sport that is around the rest of the world. You got folks over in Germany getting buried in a mini version of the real stadium that is next to the soccer field with the team colors on the casket. Talk about Ride or Die.
For one last time, the sports world turned its attention to Yankee Stadium last night to bid adieu to the venerable old ballpark. Much like during this summer’s All-Star Game, Yankees greats both past and present dotted the field in a stirring pregame ceremony that was highlighted by Bernie Williams’ first appearance at The House That Ruth Built in two years.
Many of us know a guy or remember a guy in High School who’s game was dumb sick!!!! Handle, hops, court savvy, jay work, a true man amongst boys. But, all to often like an E! True Hollywood Story there is always something that holds these budding stars from moving beyond there prep stardom.
I’m finally coming from my CRACK HIGH of the Celtics winning the Championship and the NBA Draft. No surprises w/ Derrick Rose going #1 to the BULLS & Beasley #2 to the HEAT. Will Rose wear #23 like he did in college? Stay Tuned.
LA Lakers are on the brink of losing the Ring.
Last evening, Eddie House & James Posey hit shot after shot to bring down Show time. LA’s defense would have looked decent, BUT when it rains, it pours. OH BABY!
Feet were stomping, hands were clapping, and jaws dropped in the Chi-City as the NBA Draft lottery concluded with the Chicago Bulls receiving the number #1 selection in this summers NBA Draft
More Fun After the Bump
As the Eastern Conference Final began last evening many of us said to ourselves “This is the end of Boston”. How could they after two series of playing down to there competition, come out in game one, with one day rest and beat the Piston?
More Fun After the Bump
With the NBA down to the Final Four, matchups will be the key to who advances to the Championship.
There are no weak sisters’ here.
