WTF?: Death of A Dynasty

With all the happiness in my life right now, the excitement of college apps, and Thanksgiving like next week, I am kind of saddened. The Roc has officially fallen off. They had Jay, Sigel, Bleek, Kanye, Cam’ and the Diplomats, and even Freeway and State Property. They were probably the most influential artists of my time period in music, and I can’t believe it’s over. It has gotten to the point where Bleek is nonexistent, and Beans is dissin’ Jay. Who’s to blame?

Man to tell you the truth, Jay-Z and Dame are equally to blame. As time went on, Jay changed, and Dame did some questionable moves. Jay-Z went on vacation for a while became Def Jam president, Dame made Cam the president. Jay began hagging with Russell, Kevin Lyles, and Leore and dem cats, who Dame hated.

In Dame’s eyes, Jay-Z had become buddy buddy with the people who initially doubted how big he could be. Dame was down with Jay-Z since day one, so on the other side of the fence it looks like Jay had become disloyal.

To Jay-Z, who had embraced the line “CEOs mind, that marketing plan was me”, began to change to more of sophisticated state. Dame continued with this Harlem show off mode, and the two had different business ventures. While Dame wanted to own his own company in different areas and attack the mainstream labels, say Armedale, Jay-Z decided to take endorsements, like S. Carter’s.

The artists began to pick sides; Kanye went with Jay, which is ironic because Dame discovered Kanye could rap. Cam went Dame, and acted like his mouthpiece. Beans was stuck in the middle, and was in and out of prison.

They were untouchable for like 8 summers. They gave us songs like , “Do it Again”, “We Are the Champions”, “What We Do”, “Is that your chick?”, “This Cant Be Life”, “Hard Knock Life”, “Jesus Walks”, and countless other classics. They gave us some of the best label/group albums in Dynasty: Roc La Familia, and Diplomatic Immunity. They gave us Kanye. They gave us Jay.

The Roc was the shit. (tear).

I believe This all started right before Jay-z controversial retirement and The Fade to Black movement… Hov knew what he was doing. Hova’s retirement was a selfish move. Everyone on his label could not exists without him because he was the brain behind the whole Roc. You can give Dame Dash some credit because he was CEO but he wasn’t as popular as Jay-z. Hov Made all the music He was the endorsement he was the marketing plan. It was all him. When he realized he could make it without the team he let everyone sink to the bottom of the Ocean. But the man is doing his damn thing. He is taking his business to new level. He broke out of his Ignorant, Hoodrich phase and took him and his family to knew levels.

“Hov had to get that shallow sh*t up off him” – lost one.
Jay-z started getting in the inner circle of leore, Dave lighty, and kevin lyles, all of whom used to play Jay-z before he took over. Dame always used to give them niggas hell if they ever tried to treat any 1in the Roc like they was Def Jam.
Cause really they weren’t Def Jam artists.
I guess cuz Jay never really had to go off on them daily once he reached their level he was able to befriend them and go on million dollar vacations.
Dame didn’t want to take a button up shirt and didnt want to stop pouring crystal on women.
