Sports Sound Off: Letters From The Far Side

Notesfromthefarside

(Click for Full Size)

Haven’t seen one of these in a while.

With the Lakers winning the Championship the “Hate Mail” pretty much stopped all together.

Our guy is back at it again…

Upset about the Ariza trade, requesting another SG and another 7 footer then, demanding an undefeated season. This guy is seeming more delusional than ever.

Still no luck hearing back for him to write for the PisforPROPS

The NFL is cool, but this is a sign that my beloved NBA season is right around the corner

Sports Sound Off: It’s A Long Season

Palmer
Peyton Manning is handling his business. You would think missing future Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison would slow down the Colts offensively …NOT. The Bengals would be 3-0 if not for a fluke/miracle by Denver in Week One. Led by CP3, Carson Palmer (USC stand up) the 3rd best QB in the league behind Peyton& Brady. You can make a case for Drew Brees. (I like Palmer’s 6-5 over Brees’ 6-0) Big Ben is a product of the Steelers. Put him in the Hall w/ his 2 rings & all but he is not that good. Put him on other team & see what he would do. Oh by the way, what about that rape charge?

WTF?: What’s Going on with LA Rap?

New-Boyz
In the mist of good hip-hop releases, and a cluster of good mixtapes and the phenomenon that is Drake, I’ve been wondering, where the hell is LA’s piece of the pie in the rap scene?? I go to ********** to see new releases and I come across this.

Who remembers #2? Nobody that’s who! In this winner take all society, it’s near impossible think of the second place finisher, but I’m here to give PROPS to the late Peter Tosh. Everybody knows Bob Marley, who knows’ Jamaica’s’ 2nd most influential reggae singer.

Stimulate the Economy: Sweat it Out

art-week1_selection
This fall, the age-old pair of heather gray sweats is getting a shot of style. Labels like J.Crew, James Perse and Save Khaki perfected their pairs with retro details and soft jersey cotton. Ralph Lauren’s RRL label offers a slouchy fit, with a button-fly and side-tabs. But it’s Band of Outsiders that offers the most subversive (and luxe) take on the classic. Designer Scott Sternberg cut his sweats from French Terry-lined Shetland wool, and tailored them like a pair of chinos—complete with a watch pocket, reinforced knees and a two-inch cuff.

H.N.I.T.H. Review: Kid Cudi – Man on The Moon: End of The Day

Kid Cudi
“The moon will illuminate my room, and soon I’m consumed by my doom”

Ahh. What can I say about a guy like Cudi? He’s a weird, trans-genre, honest, smoked-out ni**a , who has a sound of his own… and makes pleasurable music. His debut album “Man on The Moon: End of The Day” is truly a breath of fresh air in hip hop, and his approach to his debut project should be an example to aspiring artists in the industry. He takes his time, has no real guest appearances, has great lyrics to go along with stellar production, all while letting the world know who the real Scottie Mescudi is.

H.N.I.T.H. Review: Raekwon – Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. 2

VillageSlum.com - Raekown
Photo – Mel D. Cole – Villageslum.com

The WuTang Clan’s original 9 members created a formula never before seen in hip hop. RZA was the producer, GZA was credited as the group’s best lyricist, ODB was the wild one, and Meth was the sex symbol. Raekwon the Chef and Ghostface were the group’s storytellers. The rest of the MCs complemented the rest of the crew.

H.N.I.T.H. Review: Jay-Z – Blueprint III

4_Answer_The_Call_Benefit_Jay_Z

“How am I a legend?/ I just got 10 number 1 albums/ Maybe now 11”

The G.O.A.T of hip hop makes another solid release with the 3rd series of The Blueprint. It serves as an example to all MCs in the game, I mean what more can he say, he is the blueprint. This album is great for a lot of reasons. 1. Jay’s Statements 2. Jay’s Lyrics 3. Good Producing & Collaborations 4. The Bangers 5. Song Placement, etc. I can make at least 20.
