The Handbook: Maintain Your Digits (8/31)

In the realm of personal hygiene, your fingernails should rest somewhere between your breath and body odor. Nothing says “crude caveman” more than dirty, gnarled nails or jagged, bloody cuticles.

The Handbook: The 15 Minute Wine Rule (7/31)

There’s no shame in scoring a great bottle for less than twenty bucks, but get the most out of your vino by drinking it at the ideal temperature. White wines are often served too cold, and reds too warm. Thus, there’s a simple formula to follow: 15 minutes before you pour, put a bottle of red in the refrigerator or take a white out and let it sit.
The Handbook: Embrace a Uniform (6/31)

“I like the idea of a personal uniform,” says Richard Haines, the fashion illustrator who sketches stylish guys on the streets of New York for his blog What I Saw Today. “Years ago, on my first trip to Europe, I noticed people would wear the same thing everyday and just changed up little pieces. It’s this mentality of having less, but owning quality.” And perhaps that’s a good a theory to have right now.
Sports Sound Off: Instant Classic – Lakers v. Spurs

The L.A. Lakers & the San Antonio Spurs put on a show this past Weds. Night (1/14/08). If you missed it, let me tell you the Playoffs didn’t have nothing on this one.
There were at least 10 (TEN) spectacular plays. The 4th quarter alone should be put in a time capsule.
Spurs prevailed by one but both teams played as if was the 7th game of the Finals. (Both teams are in the Western conference so it couldn’t be the Finals game you knucklehead).
I know it’s PRIMETIME for FOOTBALL, but the NBA is heating up.
All-Star game is around the corner and there will be no surprises. Half Year awards to be giving out later.

The Handbook: Call in “Slick” (5/31)

You’re back from the holidays and you’ve already begun to dread coming into the office? Our solution? Use those sick days that you can’t take with you when you leave this job. Pick the day a week out and make sure that you plan work and meetings accordingly (without being too obvious, of course). Taking just four days a year works out to one long weekend every quarter. After all, there has to be some retaliation to no year-end bonuses right?

The Handbook: Sweater Fuzz (4/31)

Got a sweater with those little fuzz balls? It’s called pilling, and it usually happens to knits of lesser quality. But it can be easily removed with a sweater stone, which pulls the little guys from the threads, leaving a smooth finish. $18, at The Laundress.

The Handbook: Cold Showers? (3/31)

“The number one mistake guys make in the winter is taking long, hot showers,” says Andrew Goetz, one half of the stylish grooming brand Malin + Goetz. “I know they feel nice in the morning, but they’ll dehydrate your skin very quickly.” Your best best is to kick up the thermostat, keep the water warm, not hot, and slather on a little lotion after toweling off.

Lil Wayne on being a “Martian”
[I’m] just out there, you know. Don’t like to think like everybody else, don’t like to try to think like everybody else, don’t like to do nothing everybody else think I’m gone do, don’t like to say nothing everybody else think I’m gone say.
I’m a Martian. I like to be different. And what’s more different than a Martian.
Review & Recap: Notorious at The Montalbán

Checked out a screening of Notorious last night at Cinema Tuesdays at Nike Sportswear’s Montalbán Theater. Scene was pretty thick. Just missed the reception with MC Lyte, made it just time to catch the flick and check the Q&A session with George Tillman Jr., Derek Luke & Naturi Naughton.
I went in with low expectations and was pleasently surprised. It wasn’t great, but in the same sense wasn’t terrible
