Legends: Bob Marley

98t/48/huty/12964/04Since the Election, I have been drawn to listening to Bob Marley’s music. My interpretation of his words, his poetry has been on a higher level. He is truly a prophetic individual.

For example, “Redemption Song” Marley mentions, “have no fear for atomic energy, for none of them can stop the time”. Before I thought of nuclear destruction. Now I hear it as “don’t worry because nuclear holocaust is not the fate of the world. “Have no fear…we have to fulfill the book”.

We can argue who wrote the book & when, but the message is in there somewhere…

In “War” Reggae Bob sings about there will be “war as long as a man is judged by the color of his skin. It should be as insignificant as the color of his eyes.” I always thought of it as a physical war, bloodshed. After the Presidential election, the song represents to me a war on conscience. He is not singing about moving/going to a homeland, we as a people have to create it.

“We’re the straight talking people”

Look for yours on Earth

Now you see the light

Don’t give up the fight

As in the beginning

So it will be in the end

You can’t hide from the father of mankind

Even with relationships Marley was right on point

But that’s for another day.
