Sports Sound Off – Oscar Pistorius – Blade Runner

I remember it like it was yesterday. Well it…nah it was about a lil under a month ago when I saw challaxin with my crew, having a few, passing a few you know guys flipping between “Countdown” and “Cops” when I happened to have one of those random but too often moments in our TV watching carriers when you flip to a station right before a track and field race starts. I’m like cool it’s the 200m “We gonna see someone get out the gate”. Gun goes off! Race starts.

It at first it looked like the typical 200m race. Their off to a moderate pace on the corner. Then something happened at the 120m mark! This stalky white dude turned into a blur! Similar to that of sonic the Hedgehog. It was Oscar Pistorius, “will call him Oscar P” coming around the corner  as if he were shot out of the Flux Capacitor it self!

I was like yo, “Dude is bangin out”, “who the fuk is that?”

My crew was floored! The room filled with “Oh shit”, “did you see that”, “I have never seen anyone move like that”. Then as the race commentary raced toward him to interview the winner of the race I noticed the camera man pan Oscar’s body from head to toe…

Or so I thought. The room then filled with “What the fuk”, “The hell are those things”, “Aw this fool ain’t got no legs”,”Holy shit”. I then grab the remote and hit the info button. Info popped up said world championships of track or something like that. I’m like what the hell did I just see.

So I rewound the race and watched in aww. As I watched Oscar P’s bladed feet cut through the air to victory. I was in total disbelief. I then heard “Nah man this gotta be the special Olympics”, I was like “no way dude, look at these other cats running, there able body people”.

It was then we new this was the “Blade Runner”. This is the dude that has sparked crazy debate amongst track athletes and society to whether his prosthetics legs or blades are illegal to use because they create any unfair advantage over able body athletes.

The question is, is there an advantage? I say its mixed bag in my opinion. I mean as a former athlete (not track) I can see any able person being salty that this dude is bouncing down the track like a Jaguar and I have to stride it out and kick.

Nope not fair! Because he doesn’t have common man injuries? Blisters, sprained ankle, turf toe, planter fisa….. (you know what I mean). Then it’s like dude has no control of his feet? What if there are poor conditions? Wet Track? Does he have grip on them joints? I mean this story is bizarre and kool all in one. So I want your take on the Blade Runner? What y’all think, should dude be allowed  compete? or is it much to do about nothing?

Holla at me!!!!
