Coachella 08 – Sunday – Recap
Six sets, 13 hours, 103 Degress!
Here’s a quick rundown of the day. I apologize for lack of eloquence… wait no i don’t!
Fortunately for you my camera starting running out of batteries mid day You’ll only have to deal with a little bit or my shotty shooting skills.
Checked out the Cool Kids set
Decent set ran through all the joints on their EP and played a few West Coast classics to get the crowd more involved. They kept breaking up the show with randomness. Tossing a football around, shouting out their moms, discussing the size of their Super Soakers (Literal). The show could have been a little more polished, but I think that will come along as they gain their stripes.
Highlight: Black Mags
Then slid to VIP for some AC action
Highlights: AC and KB’s (Tequila&Red bull)
Then,
Was I offended? Not really… But this isn’t a bad thing. Honestly, I hadn’t really heard too much about them prior to the day of the show, but sounded interesting. So I checked them out. Great stuff. They had an electro rock steez. Great energy had the ground going crazy. Not rocket science… Just smash up fun
Highlight: We Are Rockstars & Let’s Make Out
A Trak w/ Kid Sister
A Trak started it off with a Cinespacey type set. Got everyone dancing. Kid Sister came out quickly ran through about 5 songs. I’m a fan…
Highlight: A Trak’s set & Pro Nails
Back to AC tent for Dinner
Highlight: Philly Steak that tasted like a Gyro & more KBs
Then,
Pill popping Paradise. Two nerds tweaking some knobs. Just kidding. Decent show. I just had zero points of reference and no Ecstasy. Everyone around us seemed pretty excited though.
Highlight: Glow Stick Battles (serious business)
Chromeo killed it. They played joints from both albums. First time seeing them live in action. I was interested to see how their sound translated into a show. One big ass party! They ran through a medley of G-Funk hits. Letting the influences be known.
Highlight: Tendoroni & Needy Girl
FTW! I originally avoided JUSTICE at all cost. Pushing them off as hype. My dude Carris over at “Bulen Avenue” suggested I check them out and Cross has been in heavy rotation ever since.
I expected a run of the mill electro show. Fancy lights, glow sticks, crescendoing computer sounds… dramatic pause… thumping 1002 BPM bass drop… Glow Stick Battles… You know what I’m saying…
JUSTICE came through with that smush your face in Mosh up everyone standing next to you vibe. I admit I wasn’t really ready for all of that. Had to get my back against a wall. They literally had everyone in the place completely bugging I out. I’ll be back JUSTICE and I’ll be ready…
Highlight: Genesis & D.A.N.C.E.
Got home around 2:30 – 3am
Got up for work @ 6am
